We are CLOSED for Surrenders
We are on a 6+ month wait for intakes and not taking any more requests. If you are a shelter or feel you have a true emergency, you may email: surrender@eastcoastcorgirescue.org but please read what we do not deem an emergency before you do so.
NOT EMERGENCIES:
1) You got the corgi in the past few years but now you have a baby and you're scared of the corgi hurting the baby. (This is the most common reason, and it's also, frankly, the stupidest. Due to a lack of training on your part, you want to give up the dog?)
2) You got a puppy and the resident corgi doesn't like/bites the puppy. (Seriously?)
3) You don't have time (what did you think when you were adopting?)
4) The corgi nips your kids. (This is what corgis do. Training is imperative - for both your kids and the dog!)
The most common reasons for surrender boil down to this -
You didn't do research and now you can't handle the dog. You will be dumping the dog into an already overpopulated world experiencing the most dire pet overpopulation crisis ever.
People need to STOP BUYING DOGS. We cannot keep up with the volume of surrenders. If there is any chance you can work with your dog to keep it in its home, please do so.
